I called in to Dr. Ruff's office this morning to report on our Eggsperiment results (see previous blog post for details). I explained that while her reaction was far from serious, she did break out around her mouth for a while and, more intriguing to me, did not ask for more cookies when she finished the one. I have ready many reports from people with food allergies that they have a natural aversion to their personal allergens. Biology is so cool.

We had a rather eventful weekend here in the Blogger household, which is kind of unusual for us. Status quo around here involves quiet weekends at home with not a lot to do and a lot of "time filler" type activities like going to the park or the museum or something similar of a family type bent. 2. He explained things thoroughly in an easily understandable vocabulary that was never once condescending in tone
3. He seemed genuinely comfortable with a toddler who wasn't terribly impressed with her surroundings and not shy about expressing her toddler-ific disgust with the entire proceedings

Today was a day of firsts here in the Blogger household. I have decided that today would mark the first day of my blogging adventure - just one small typo away from the slightly more embarrassing clogging adventure. But seriously, I am very much looking forward to sharing the ups and downs of my family's journey in dealing with our food allergic kid, namely Caroline. It seems every time I open a magazine or turn on the TV lately I'm hearing about the steady increase of food allergies among American kids - up to one in every 25. And, if their experience has been anything like ours then it starts at a frighteningly young age. Caroline had just turned one when we had our first allergic reaction.
